Preservation Process When fresh flowers are received, several pictures are taken – for example a wedding bouquet from several angles. Bouquets are then taken apart, and each flower is treated individually. Most flowers are re-hydrated, and the edges are trimmed, and some petals glued if necessary. The treated flowers are then placed on trays, which are placed in freezers. The next step is to place trays of frozen flowers into the freeze-dry machine. Flowers are placed scientifically within the machine to maximize the separate requirements of each species. Moisture is removed the flowers each day, and the freeze-dry process is completed on a 12 day cycle. Again, each flower is examined and treated. Individual flowers may require being sprayed for special floral paints in order to restore the original colors. Some additional gluing and trimming may be required. The processed flowers are then placed into display pieces, along with any memorabilia the customer wants to include. Photographs, announcements, toasting flutes, and other special items are included in the design – the result being a beautiful and unique heirloom which will provide joyous and meaningful memories for years to come. |
